We bought a mixer as a present for our daughter on 8/22/17. This whisk broke just like the others. Customer service was excellent though. Even though our purchase was outside of the standard 1-year warranty, they gave us a one-time courtesy replacement. This was all done via the live chat feature. The other side of this review is the mixer we bought for ourselves in 2012. Going on 7 years and the whisk is fine. So, maybe there is something to the 5-star review that talked about the right-sized bowl.

When you first get this attachment you need to do a dry run on the slowest sped and see if the whisk hits the side of the bowl at all. If it does, you can use the adjustment screw on the main tower of the mixer to fix this. It sounds like one reviewer is simply using a whisk that is too small for their bowl, because a 1/2 inch gap is not normal...

I just came to this site looking for a replacement and saw the other post. Same problem, the attachment is too flimsy. The wire on mine actually came unattached from the neck. You would think they're welded on at this point.

I've replaced this thing 3 times now and I'm done. I tried contacting support but that was pointless. Here's the deal, this attachment has wires that move, can (and do) pull out and break at the bend near the attachment point. I'm not whipping rocks or bolts, just egg whites or light cream and need to whisk it, but my hand mixer whisks are MUCH more durable than this thing.
Hey, Kitchenaid, can you improve the quality of this flimsy thing, so that it's more in line with the quality of the stand mixer?

Wire Elliptical Whip
1/2/2017
I was having trouble whipping with this whip. It just dose not reach the outer edge enough to be useful. Kitchen aid suggested I needed a smaller bowl. So I got the 3.5 size bowl with the whip that goes with it. Same problem. The whip wire is about 1/2 inch away from the edge of the bowl. Therefore everything gets pushed to the outside and just sticks there. If you have enough butter in the bowl it will whip the part that is thicker then the 1/2 inch. But you need a hole pd. of butter or more. That is equivalent to baking 4 cakes.... There is a another attachment that scrapes the sides but it dose not whip. Whipping is the most important part of my baking. If it dose not work properly it makes the hole process frustrating. I had a older (20 yrs) cheaper stand mixer That I had given away when I got this one. It was getting overheated when I used it for long periods. But it whipped everything and even the smallest amounts (1/4 pd. butter) with no trouble. Yes I scraped the sides but not like I do with the kitcenaid. Not at all.... So I know it is possible to improve this whip. I have tried all the adjustments but the wire is just to far away from the bowl to make it useful. I hope you can fix this problem because it makes the hole mixer useless. And it is to expensive for this kind of poor performance.
