Jordan's
Jordan's was founded in 1961 in "beautiful, downtown Edom, Texas" by Cranfill and Frances Jordan, at that time selling groceries and hardware. Our store even featured a cafe and grill which proved to be very popular with area residents.
Within two years, Jordan's outgrew its original building and decided to build a larger, more modern building. Property located directly across the street was acquired and construction began on the first air-conditioned commercial building in Edom. The new building created quite a stir and was even featured in a story in the Tyler newspaper.
With a larger building, Jordan's now needed additional products just to fill space, and televisions and appliances seemed to be a good fit. In 1964 we were franchised as the new East Texas dealer for RCA televisions and Whirlpool appliances, products which would form the product backbone for our future.
Sons Mike, Sam and Pat Jordan joined the family business during the 1970's and Jordan's continued to provide the best brands and technologies at the lowest prices in the marketplace. We became one of the first DSS (now DIRECTV) dealers in Texas, actually selling and installing systems in June, 1994 before the product was officially released nationwide in November of that year.
By 1994 Jordan's needed additional warehouse space and acquired several acres at the intersection of FM 314 and State Highway 64. We once again began construction, this time more than tripling the size of our building, which is designed for future expansion. Our location outside the city limits of Edom means our customers pay no city or county sales tax, only state sales tax. We now market many quality brands including Dish Network, Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Maytag, Amana, Toshiba, Mitsubishi and Sharp.
Today, the Jordan family--Mike, Sam and Tyler (Sam's son)--very much appreciates the many friends and acquaintances we've made through the years. As our customers face the challenges of today and tomorrow, we stand ready, as always, to assist them with honesty, integrity, and the lowest prices possible.
